CRANFORD NJ - Shawn Noël former Athletic Director at Frederick Community College and Brookdale Community College, has been named Director of Athletics at Union County College, Dean of College Life Tammy Smith announced today. Noël brings with him an immense range of experience, along with an energy and enthusiasm that will be great for the department. He also brings nearly a decade of athletic administration, coaching, business knowledge to Union. Noël replaces Rebecca May, who earlier resigned to accept a position at Moravian College as an Assistant Director of Athletics.
During his time at Brookdale Community College Noël lead an athletic department that won five National Championships, 18 Region XIX Championships, and 16 GSAC Championships. He has not only guided success on the playing field, he also helped maintain an over 90% retention rate of student athletes while having numerous NJCAA Academic Team honors with teams maintaining above a 3.00 GPA.

He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him along with the ability to produce winners, not just on the conference or regional level but in the national scene as well. He is the perfect fit to help jump start some of our programs and maintain our level of competitiveness in Region XIX. Shawn has also shown his commitment to athletes becoming successful in the classroom which is something we are extremely dedicated to here at Union."
