Moyer Proves to be Money; Sealing the Owl’s First Conference Win of Season
Blackwood, N.J. – The Owls flew to South Jersey on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, to begin their conference dual schedule with a Tri-Match against Rowan College of South Jersey and host school, Camden County College.
Union’s first foe of the day was RCSJ, where the Roadrunners started out on sprint, taking 5 of the first 6 matches in the dual. But then the Owls began to claw back, starting with Christian Ramos (174), bumping up a weight class and claiming the victory. That would go on to set the stage for a heavyweight showdown, with RCSJ leading by 3 before the big fellas took to the mat. Brian Moyer Jr. (285) putting a book end on the match with a first period pin, to clinch the Owl’s first conference win of the season, with the final 27-24.
The Owls would go on to finish the day with a 1-1 record, after falling to Camden County, 35-18.
Our wrestling owls are back in action on Thursday, hosting the program’s first Tri-Match at the Owls Nest, against Middlesex College and Sussex Community College. We’re also celebrating those graduating with our Sophomore Night!
