Union Owls Sweeps Sophomore Night; Taking Two in the Owls Nest

Cranford, N.J. – The Owls finally land as the host team, when they welcomed Middlesex College and Sussex Community College, last Thursday night for the program’s first ever home Tri-match in the Owls Nest.

Union led off the night against Middlesex, where the Colts put up a courageous fight before eventually getting passed up by the Owls, for a final match score; 36-22. Celebrations ensued as we honored our Sophomore Student-Athletes, before taking the mat against the Skylanders of Sussex County

The Sophomores ignited a fiery start in the final match of the evening, with Robinson (125) and Sanchez (133) delivering a powerful one-two punch in the initial bouts, securing a 14-7 decision and a first-period fall, respectively.

As both teams continued to exchange blows in closely contested bouts, the Owls Nest truly came alive, as anchor, Brian Moyer Jr. swiftly pinned down the Skylander Heavyweight to conclude the victory for Union, with a final score of 33-20.

Cheers and celebrations resonated as the team and fans relished the success on Sophomore Night, while the Owls improved to 3-1 in the conference and 4-4 on the season.

This sets the stage for Union's final home dual on Tuesday, January 30th, at 7PM, as UCNJ Union Owls will host the Bulldogs of Bergen County Community College, and feature our annual High School Night OWT!
