Scarfone Paces Owls While Handwerker Marks Return of Female Golfers
Kenilworth, NJ - UCNJ Golf Team opened its home schedule on Monday, April 6, competing at Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth, New Jersey, in challenging weather conditions marked by wind and cool temperatures.
Sophomore Joshua Scarfone led the Owls with a strong round of 88, setting the pace for a young team that continues to gain valuable experience on the course. Joining him in competition were Henry Bowman, David Guydan, and Theo Shapiro, each contributing to the team’s overall effort.
Head Coach Postiglione expressed optimism following the match, noting the steady growth and development of his squad as they navigate the early part of the season.
In a notable milestone for the program, Shoshana Handwerker became the first Owl female golfer to compete for the team in several seasons. Her participation marks an important step forward as the program looks to expand. Coach Postiglione is actively working to build a competitive women’s team, with the goal of joining other Region XIX programs that currently feature female golfers.
The Owls will return to action on Wednesday, April 15, when they travel to Flanders Valley Golf Course for a Region XIX match hosted by the County College of Morris.
