Coach Montas Named Coach of the Week as Owls Remain Undefeated 19-0
Cranford, NJ - UCNJ Women's Basketball Head Coach Marbely Montas is named JUCO DII Coach of the Week by Women's HoopDirt. This recognition is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and exceptional coaching ability in leading her team to success. Under the expert guidance of Coach Marbely Montas, the Owls continue their dominant season adding 4 victories last week, solidifying their reputation as one of the top teams in the nation. Ranked #4 Owls, now 19-0, have shown no signs of slowing down.
The week kicked off with a 105-56 win over Mercer County Community College on Tuesday, January 14. While the 49-point margin of victory was impressive, this game would be the closest matchup of the week for Union. The Owls' ability quickly established control, putting together a string of unstoppable runs to put the game out of reach.
Just two days later, the Owls hit the road for a clash with Middlesex College on Thursday, January 16. Union's offense was dominating the game against Middlesex with a victories score of 108-30. The Owls' defense was strong, limiting their opponent to just 30 points.
On Saturday, January 18, we saw the Owls take on CCBC Catonsville. Once again, Union showcased their depth and skill, rolling to a commanding 96-38 win. The Owls' ability to spread the scoring around, while maintaining lockdown defense, has been a key factor in their undefeated run.
Owls continue their unstoppable streak on Tuesday, January 21, as they hosted Lackawanna College at home. With another dominating performance, Union defeated Lackawanna 108-53, handing them their fifth loss of the season. The Owls' consistency and offensive firepower were on full display, as they scored effortlessly, once again winning by a margin of 55 points.
With these victories, Coach Montas has led Union to 19-0 on the season, demonstrating their ability to dominate from start to finish. Under Coach Marbely Montas, the Owls have emerged as one of the most powerful teams in the nation, blending fast-paced offense with a suffocating defense.
As the season progresses, Coach Montas and the Owls will continue to face tough competition, but they've shown that they're more than capable of handling whatever challenges come their way.
