Owls Finish 6th at Inaugural NJCAA DIII National Duals
Sanborn, NY — The Wrestling Owls opened the New Year with a trip north to Niagara Falls for the inaugural NJCAA Division III National Duals, featuring the top junior-college programs in the country battling for the first-ever team duals title.
UCNJ took early lumps against eventual finalists Harper College (Palatine, IL) and SUNY Niagara, but the Owls responded with grit, rattling off back-to-back dual victories. First, they defeated Northland Community & Technical College (East Grand Forks, MN), then secured a historic win over GSAC rival Camden Community College, marking the program’s first-ever victory over the Cougars.
The victory over Camden catapulted UCNJ into the 5th/6th Place match, where they ultimately fell to Onondaga Community College, earning a 6th-place finish at the national event.
Sophomore captain Joshua Baeza (141) paced the Owls with a 4–1 performance, recording all bonus-point victories and three falls on the day.
The Wrestling Owls return to action on Tuesday, January 13, when they travel for another GSAC conference showdown against Rowan College of South Jersey.
